A Naturally Sweet Snickers Bar With Self-Control

These no-bake Snickers-style bars are rich, layered and deeply satisfying — without the sugar crash. A soft oat base replaces refined biscuits, giving gentle energy and a proper bite.

The middle is naturally sweet, nutty and caramel-like, balanced with just enough salt. Finished with a dark chocolate layer, they taste indulgent but feel considered.

They’re made for: afternoon cravings, post-dinner sweetness, and moments when you need a pick me up.

No baking. No refined sugar. No drama.

Serves: Varies (approximately 8-10)

Ingredients & Method:

1. Oat Base

  • 1½ cups rolled oats

  • ½ cup nut butter (peanut or almond both work beautifully)

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted

  • Pinch of sea salt

Method

  1. Blitz oats briefly in a food processor until they resemble coarse flour.

  2. Add nut butter, maple syrup, coconut oil and salt.

  3. Pulse until sticky and press firmly into a lined loaf tin.

  4. Chill while you make the caramel.

2. Date Caramel Layer

  • 1½ cups Medjool dates, pitted

  • 3–4 tbsp warm water (add gradually)

  • 2 tbsp peanut butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

Method

  1. Blend everything until smooth, thick and glossy.

  2. Spread evenly over the oat base.

  3. Sprinkle with a handful of chopped peanuts if you like crunch (very Snickers energy).

  4. Chill 10–15 minutes.

3. Chocolate Layer

  • 100g dark chocolate (70%+ ideally)

  • 1 tsp coconut oil

Method

  1. Melt gently (microwave or bain-marie).

  2. Pour over the caramel layer and tilt to coat evenly.

  3. Optional: finish with flaky sea salt.

Set & Slice

  1. Chill for at least 1 hour until firm.

  2. Slice into bars with a sharp knife.

  3. Keep in the freezer for emergency “I need something NOW” moments.

Why it’s good for you

• These hit the sweet–salty–satisfying sweet spot without blood-sugar chaos.

• Dates = fibre + minerals + natural caramel flavour.

• Oats + nut butter = grounding, slow energy (no crash).
